A Legend Reborn: The Original 911 S/T

The story of the original 1972 Porsche 911 2.5 S/T is one of remarkable resilience. Once a triumphant GT class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car was later discovered in a dilapidated state in a barn near San Francisco. Its condition was described as devastating, with significant rust, damage, and repainting.

• Discovery and Restoration: The car's trail went cold after a 1975 race entry until 2008 when clues to its whereabouts emerged. In 2013, a Swiss collector initiated a complex restoration process with Porsche Classic experts in Stuttgart.

• Meticulous Rebirth: The restoration involved completely disassembling and stripping the car. Over 1,000 hours of manual craftsmanship were dedicated to the bodywork alone, fabricating missing parts using original technical drawings and sheet-metal gauges.

• Factory Fresh Finish: After two and a half years, the car was returned to its owner in 2016, perfectly restored to its original 1972 condition and color, Light Yellow (code 117). Period-correct sponsor decals and the starting number 41 were added, mirroring its Le Mans victory.
