Dubai-based adventurer Mateo Moussaoui has completed an epic 34,000-kilometer road trip across 28 countries in his 2009 V6 Porsche Cayenne, arriving at the Icons of Porsche festival in Dubai. The remarkable four-month journey showcased the exceptional durability and resilience of the first-generation Cayenne, proving its mettle on diverse terrains.
Key Takeaways
A stock 2009 Porsche Cayenne V6, with over 276,000 km already on the odometer, successfully completed a 34,000 km journey across 28 countries.
The vehicle required minimal maintenance, primarily oil changes and new spark plugs, highlighting its robust engineering.
The adventurer, Mateo Moussaoui, has a lifelong passion for Porsche, stemming from his earliest memories.
Future expeditions are already planned, with Moussaoui intending to explore more continents with his trusted Cayenne.
An Unmodified Marvel
Moussaoui's 2009 V6 Cayenne, a vehicle that had already accumulated a significant 276,000 kilometers before the trip, remained largely unmodified. The only alteration was the upgrade of headlights with OEM Porsche parts. Running on its original 21-inch factory wheels with low-profile tires, the Cayenne navigated treacherous roads, including potholes, without a single breakdown.
A Lifelong Passion
Speaking at the Icons of Porsche festival, Moussaoui shared his deep-rooted connection to the Porsche brand. "Porsche is my forever brand," he stated, explaining that his parents brought him home from the hospital in a Porsche 911 (993). This lifelong affinity fueled his decision to undertake such an ambitious journey in a Porsche.
The Grueling Route
The journey commenced in Dubai, leading Moussaoui through Saudi Arabia to Kuwait, and then onward to Iraq and Turkey. From there, he ventured into Europe, traversing England, Scotland, and Wales. The most challenging border crossing was between Kuwait and Iraq near Basra, which involved a four-hour process with numerous document checks.
Despite traversing deserts, mountains, and even fording lakes in Switzerland, Moussaoui decided to test his Cayenne on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. He described the 20.8 km circuit as the toughest part of the entire journey, yet his Cayenne completed it without issue, even after accumulating over 300,000 km.
Future Adventures Await
Following the extensive trip, the Cayenne received another oil change, and remarkably, it is still running on the same tires, which were rotated in Monaco at the 13,000 km mark. Moussaoui has no plans to stop his adventures. He is already planning future expeditions to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, more Scandinavian countries, and eventually Asia, America, and Africa, confident in his Cayenne's ability to handle any challenge.
