Porsche has announced a significant surge in electrified vehicle sales during the first half of 2025, with nearly 60% of its best-selling Macan models now fully electric. This shift highlights a growing consumer preference for electric vehicles and Porsche's successful transition towards electrification, despite overall market challenges.
Porsche's Electrification Drive Accelerates
Porsche's commitment to electrification is evident in its H1 2025 sales figures. Of the 146,391 vehicles delivered worldwide, 36.1% were electrified, marking a 14.5 percentage point increase. This includes 23.5% fully electric vehicles and 12.6% plug-in hybrids.
The fully electric Macan has been a key driver of this growth, with 25,884 units sold, accounting for almost 60% of all Macan deliveries.
The Macan model line saw the strongest growth among all Porsche models, with a 15% increase in deliveries.
The Panamera also performed well, with a 13% increase in sales.
Matthias Becker, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, emphasized the fully electric Macan's significant contribution to the company's electrified car proportion. He noted Porsche's success in maintaining stable sales volumes across regions despite ongoing geopolitical challenges.
Regional Sales Performance
Sales performance varied across key global markets:
North America: Remained the largest sales region with 43,577 deliveries, a 10% increase, setting a new half-year record. This growth is attributed to improved product availability and price protection against increased import tariffs.
Overseas and Emerging Markets: Achieved a new all-time record with 30,158 deliveries, also a 10% increase.
Europe (excluding Germany): Experienced an 8% decrease, with 35,381 vehicles delivered. This decline is partly due to a strong prior-year period.
Germany: Saw a 23% decrease, with 15,973 deliveries, also influenced by strong prior-year figures.
China: Faced challenging market conditions, particularly in the luxury segment, leading to a 28% decrease with 21,302 vehicles delivered. Porsche continues to focus on value-oriented sales in this region.
Overall, Porsche's global deliveries were down 6% compared to the previous year, totaling 146,391 vehicles.
Model Line Performance
Here's a breakdown of individual model line performance:
Model Line | Deliveries (H1 2025) | Change from Previous Year |
|---|---|---|
Macan | 45,137 | +15% |
Panamera | 14,975 | +13% |
911 | 25,608 | -9% |
718 Boxster/Cayman | 10,496 | -12% |
Taycan | 8,302 | -6% |
Cayenne | 41,873 | -23% |
The decline in 911 sales is attributed to strong final sales of the predecessor model in the prior year and staggered introductions of new derivatives. The 718 series saw reduced availability due to EU cybersecurity regulations, with production phasing out in Q4 2025. Cayenne deliveries were also impacted by catch-up effects from the previous year.
Looking ahead, Porsche anticipates continued challenging market conditions but remains focused on its 'value over volume' strategy, supported by its renewed product range.
