Porsche has opened its tenth Charging Lounge in Himmelkron, northern Bavaria, further enhancing its dedicated fast-charging network across Europe. This new facility, located along the crucial A9 motorway, offers high-speed charging capabilities and a premium lounge experience for Porsche electric vehicle owners. The expansion aligns with Porsche's commitment to advancing its electromobility infrastructure.
Key Takeaways
Porsche's fast-charging network now includes 10 locations in Europe.
The Himmelkron lounge offers six high-power charging points with up to 400 kW charging capacity.
Customers benefit from an improved tariff structure and extended free parking for AC charging.
The new lounge provides a comfortable space with amenities like refreshments and Wi-Fi.
New Charging Hub on the A9 Motorway
The latest Porsche Charging Lounge is strategically situated in Himmelkron, a key location in Upper Franconia, serving as the second stop along the vital north-south A9 motorway after Ingolstadt. This busy route connects Berlin and Munich, making the new lounge a convenient stop for long-distance EV travel. The facility features six fast-charging points capable of delivering up to 400 kW simultaneously, ensuring rapid charging for compatible Porsche models.
Enhanced Customer Comfort and Convenience
Reflecting Porsche's focus on customer experience, the Himmelkron Charging Lounge offers a modern and comfortable environment. Visitors can relax in well-appointed seating areas while enjoying complimentary refreshments, including soft drinks, snacks, coffee, and water. High-speed Wi-Fi is also available. Access to the charging points and lounge is managed through a Porsche ID, with automatic barrier opening via license plate recognition when linked to the My Porsche app. Alternatively, customers can use a Porsche Charging Card or a QR code from the app.
Rapid Charging Capabilities
The charging infrastructure at the lounges is designed for speed. A current-generation Taycan can charge from 10 to 80 percent state of charge in approximately 18 minutes. The Macan requires about 21 minutes for the same charge, while the upcoming Cayenne Electric is expected to charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 16 minutes.
Improved Charging Service Terms
Porsche has also revised its Porsche Charging Service Plus tariff structure. Notably, AC charging between midnight and 8:00 AM will no longer incur blocking fees. Furthermore, the free parking time for AC charging has been extended from four to six hours, offering a total of up to 14 hours of free parking and charging time without blocking fees. This provides greater flexibility for customers who need to leave their vehicles charging for extended periods.
Continued Partnerships
Porsche continues its collaboration with Aral pulse as a Preferred Partner, offering Porsche drivers attractive charging rates of €0.39 per kilowatt hour at their locations. Other Preferred Partners include IONITY, GoFast in Switzerland, Fines Charging in Bulgaria, Iberdrola in Spain and Portugal, and Zunder in Spain and France, ensuring a wide network of accessible and affordable charging options.
