Nico Müller joins as a factory driver, bringing experience with the Porsche 99X Electric from his previous season with Andretti.
The team is actively involved in developing the next-generation GEN4 Formula E cars.
Porsche aims to fight for all three championship titles in the upcoming season.
A Powerful Driver Duo
Porsche Motorsport is confident in its driver lineup, with Vice President Thomas Laudenbach expressing delight in retaining one of the strongest pairings in the field. "Pascal is, of course, a well-known figure. Nico has been able to familiarise himself with the Porsche 99X Electric at Andretti during the previous season and is therefore well prepared when he gets into the factory car," Laudenbach stated.
Wehrlein, a consistent performer since joining Porsche in 2020, will be joined by Müller, who officially became a factory driver in August 2024. Müller gained valuable experience with the Porsche 99X Electric during the last season while racing for Andretti Formula E. Both drivers have already been engaged in simulator development work for the upcoming GEN4 cars, which are set to debut with over 600 kW of power.
Preparing for the Future and the Present
While the team focuses on the development of the groundbreaking GEN4 cars, Porsche is also gearing up for its final season with the current third-generation car. The 2025/2026 season kicks off on December 6th in São Paulo, Brazil, following official pre-season tests in Valencia, Spain, from November 27th to 30th.
Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E, welcomed Müller, calling him the "logical successor to António" and highlighting his familiarity with the 99X Electric and his simulator work. "We want to challenge for all the titles, so we still need two drivers who have everything they need to score points as quickly and consistently as possible," Modlinger added.
Driver Perspectives
Both drivers expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership. Pascal Wehrlein commented, "I’m delighted that Nico is joining us and believe he’s a great fit for the team. A good collaboration is the foundation for success, but nothing in motorsport comes easily – we have to keep working hard."
Nico Müller shared his excitement: "I’m incredibly proud of this step and thank Porsche Motorsport for their trust. My last season wasn’t easy, but it was all the more instructive – that motivates me tremendously to repay the team’s trust on the track. I’m looking forward to getting to know the team even more and I am convinced that Pascal and I will form a strong duo."
Porsche's Formula E Commitment
As the reigning Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Champion, Porsche is entering its seventh Formula E season. In addition to the factory team, the customer team Andretti Formula E will compete with the GEN3 Evo 99X Electric, and Cupra Kiro will utilize technology from the previous GEN3 generation. This involvement allows Porsche to gather crucial insights for its production sports car development.
